“I heard a graphic account of how the Titanic up-ended herself and remained poised like some colossal nightmare of a fish, her tail high in the air, her nose deep in the water, until she dived finally from human sight.”
This is a quote from Arthur Rostron–the captain of the rescue ship which saved hundreds of people from the icy waters of the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912. His ship, the RMS Carpathia arrived at 4:00 a.m. and encountered a scene of devastation. The infamous Titanic had disappeared below the water at 2:20 a.m. and only 706 survivors remained. Captain Rostron didn’t witness the ship’s sinking, but he gazed upon the chilling aftermath. The traumatized passengers and crew filled in the details of this horrible, yet preventable event.
I’ve written about the Titanic before and how it foreshadows what’s unfolding within our nation and world currently. A few years ago I came across a story that was quite intriguing, but also spoke a message to my heart for the times we are living in right now. First I’ll give you some background and then I’ll share the story. The cat you see in the header photo is a little hint….
2020 launched us full force into the icy waters of the Covid era and we are still sailing through an ocean filled with icebergs. Many believe the pandemic is behind us, but the truth is that this is just the beginning. The stage is being set for the emergence of a New World Order. That’s the term the globalists use. The Bible tells us this unholy coalition is called the One World Government, or the Antichrist government. This One World Coalition, with its globally-minded leaders, want nothing more than to fill their ship with passengers who will bow down to their ideas such as: instituting a digital currency and ID, eliminating borders between countries, worshipping the earth (climate change agenda), genetic engineering, complete surveillance through artificial intelligence, endless vaccinations and redistributing wealth globally (this is the short list).
Those of us who understand the Bible want nothing to do with this wayward ship because like the Titanic, it’s headed to the bottom of the ocean. But as this One World Government sets itself up, many wonder what will become of our nation–the United States of America. This is the part that’s hard to accept because we are used to being one of the richest and most blessed nations on earth. The truth, however, is that our nation will not remain this way forever.
Maybe you’ve already sensed it. Or maybe you’ve read the Bible and you realize the United States is not mentioned in the last days prophecies. As far as biblical prophecy scholars are concerned, most agree that the United States is not one of the nations that go against Israel in the War of Gog and Magog. This is a good thing. Unfortunately, they are not mentioned as coming to Israel’s rescue either. The question that remains is this: What happens to America? Why isn’t this powerful nation involved in the events that are listed in the Bible as part of the countdown to the Last Days?
It’s possible that an economic collapse will bring our nation to its knees. I know you don’t want to hear that. The good thing is that an economic collapse will also bring people to Jesus–in essence, they will be brought to their knees in repentance. There will be a great harvest of people, who will finally give their lives to Jesus. Oftentimes people must come to the end of themselves, or to the end of their money, to finally realize they need the Lord.
In the midst of all the bad news circulating around the world, there’s also a light of hope. It means the return is near. Jesus has the keys in hand, and if his white horse had an engine, it’s revving up now.
When the Titanic sank, over 1,500 people lost their lives. They didn’t plan on death. Their plans were to arrive in New York City on April 17, 1912. They had families, careers, hopes and dreams. In spite of the calamity, there were many who were rescued, living to tell the story.
Now I want to share a unique tale about the Titanic that reminds me of what I believe are the Last Days here on earth. When I say Last Days, I mean we are living in the time just before Jesus returns at the Rapture, and then at the Second Coming. Of course, I don’t know the timing. But I can see the writing on the wall. I can see the iceberg in front of the ship.
The truth is that our world and nation have already set sail on the Titanic. Some would argue we’ve already hit the iceberg. The rip in our hull widens day by day, and the ship is filling with water. It’s a matter of time before it will sink.
Some people cannot see what’s already here, or what’s coming. But those of us who have the Holy Spirit are on alert. We see the signs.
Perhaps we are like the cat I’m going to tell you about.
Yes, it’s a tale about a cat. This cat was on the Titanic, but it didn’t go down with the ship.
You’re probably thinking, there was a cat aboard Titanic? Of course there was! Back in those days it was considered unlucky to sail without a cat. A talent widely appreciated by sailors was a cat’s ability to catch and eat rats.
According to survivor accounts, Titanic certainly had a cat and she was known as 401. Yes, the cat’s name was a number. She was named after Titanic, before Titanic had a name. You see, all ships are known by a number first. This number was based on the order or sequence from when they were built in a ship yard.
Before Titanic left on her maiden voyage, 401 had a litter of four kittens aboard the ship. There was a young crewman who took charge of taking care of 401 and her babies. This crewman was aboard Titanic for its sea trials, which began on April 2, 1912– eight days before Titanic would leave on her maiden voyage on April 10. The sea trials would test the speed, maneuverability, safety and over-all “sea-worthiness” of the ship.
After the sea trials, Titanic would leave Belfast, Ireland and travel over 500 miles to Southampton, England, which is where Titanic would leave for her maiden, though doomed voyage. The young crewman would sail with 401 and her litter throughout the trials and on to Southampton.
But something strange happened when Titanic arrived in Southampton. While passengers boarded the ship, full of excitement and expectation, 401 began making a swift departure. The crew member watched as 401 picked up her kittens one by one, taking them off the ship. Puzzled, but also concerned, this crew member exited the ship as well. The Titanic would leave for its historic voyage without them.
As a result, the cat, kittens and the crew member were not on the Titanic when it hit the iceberg on April 14, 1912, sinking on April 15.
Did 401 instinctively know the ship would sink? Or, was it just a coincidence that 401 left the ship with her kittens at the right time, escaping one of the worst disasters of the century?
That’s an answer we will never know because we can’t know what the cat was thinking. We might assume the cat sensed danger, or perceived trouble on the horizon. This may be why she removed herself and the kittens from the ship.
The Lord gives his people a similar type of sixth sense. It isn’t something mystical, or from the New Age movement. It’s the miracle of the Holy Spirit. This spirit is our guide, comforter and advocate. Those who receive Christ as their Savior are partakers of this divine gift described below.
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 14:26 NLT
This verse reminds us that the Holy Spirit is our Advocate, which is also translated as Comforter. The word being used in the Greek is parakletos (Strong’s 3875). This word means: summoned or called to one’s side to aid. It also means to plead another’s cause before a judge (as a legal assistant). Other definitions include: an intercessor, a helper, or an assistant. My personal favorite definition is the one that says: a helper that gives divine strength and leads one to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, which enables one to endure and overcome trials and persecutions.
Like the story of 401, who seemed to “know” it was time to get off the ship, believers are often able to feel danger and evil, or sense that something is not quite right. As the days get darker on this earth and in our nation, the Holy Spirit is working overtime to keep us informed of the times and seasons. The Holy Spirit reminds us of the truth. It guides us where to go and where not to go.
Whether you want to face it or not, the Titanic is sailing. But we have a choice. We can sail with Jesus, or we can sail in the opposite direction with the world as our navigator. We can get on the boat like the rest of the world who does not possess the Holy Spirit. I call this boat the S.S. One World Government. This ship sails its own path against the ways of God. Instead of turning toward God in repentance, this ship sails further and further from the path of righteousness. The ship looks big, shiny and unsinkable. But mark my words, it will sink.
How do we avoid this ship, as 401, her kittens and the crew member did?
Firstly, we must know the Word of God. If we are ignorant in this, it’s very difficult to hear what the Holy Spirit could be conveying. In other words, it’s difficult to discern and decipher what the Holy Spirit is telling us.
Psalm 91 promises that if we dwell in the shelter of the Most High, we will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. When we dwell with Jesus, all the other promises follow such as protection from calamity, darkness, evil and the traps of the enemy. But, it’s hard to dwell with the Savior if we aren’t familiar with his ways. He is called THE WORD and this means part of knowing him is knowing the Bible. I’m not saying you have to memorize it, but rather understand and know what it says. It’s the Rosetta stone to understanding the Holy Spirit.
The S.S. One World Government will tell you to go along with abortion, gay marriage, climate change, critical race theory, globalism and public opinion. You can choose to hop on board and be led into a false sense of security and hope. But remember that Titanic was a man-made ship. Most believed “not even God could sink the ship.” Yet, it sank in under three hours. Jumping ship, or never getting on the ship to begin with, are better options than sailing on a vessel destined for deception and evil.
Titanic’s number in the shipyard was 401. If you take the number and reverse it you get 104. Oddly enough, One World Trade Center (the tallest building in the United States) actually has 104 stories. It is 104 standard floors high, even though it’s listed as having 94 stories. One World Trade Center is the tower that replaced the Twin Towers which were destroyed on 9-11. This new tower actually has a mast on top which resembles a ship. It’s kind of eerie when you look at it. I immediately think of Titanic. This tower reminds us that the One World Government is doing its best to rise in prominence and power, but it’s nothing more than a sinking ship and a new Tower of Babel.
There’s another interesting connection to the 401/104 and this one is tied to America’s first permanent settlement called Jamestown. On December 6, 1606, three ships called the Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery left England and sailed toward North America. They arrived in present day Virginia and created a new settlement. They would call it Jamestown. This settlement would endure much hardship, but it would stand the test, becoming the first permanent successful settlement in what is now the United States of America. Though this settlement began through the British, its roots are certainly tied to the founding of America. This settlement and the thirteen colonies would become the future United States of America after the Revolutionary War.
How is this tied to the number 401, or 104 you ask? Well, it all began with 104 passengers aboard three boats! America began with those 104 settlers who came over from England! Our nation began with the founding of Jamestown, which was rooted in Christianity. The first cross was planted in our nation during the founding of Jamestown.
As a nation, if we move away from our biblical roots–our biblical founding–we are like the Titanic, whose number was 401. This number is the reverse of 104, yet it reminds us if we go in reverse of God’s plan, we will end up at the bottom of the ocean.
Titanic was only referred to as a number before it was named. The number 401 referred to both its order at the shipyard, as well as the ship itself. But the number itself may hold other clues to ponder.
Hebrew is the language of biblical times, and the language spoken by the nation of Israel. This language is tied to God because it’s the language of the people he called out as his own–the Jews.
The Hebrew language is alpha-numeric. This means each letter of the alphabet has a specific number associated with it. This is not the same as English where we number our letters 1-26. The Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, but the values of each letter range from 1 to 400. If you study Hebrew, you start to realize God reveals patterns through the language. The Bible itself is layered with the amazing fingerprint of our Creator and much of this is seen through the lens of the Hebrew language.
The number 401 is tied to two important letters in Hebrew. The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet is called the Aleph and its numerical value is one. The last letter of the alphabet is called the Tav, and it has a value of 400. Put those together and you have 401. What’s fascinating about the Aleph and the Tav is that they are considered the beginning and the end. In Greek we know this as the Alpha and the Omega. Sound familiar? Let me refresh your memory just in case.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End,” Revelation 22:13.
This verse is referring to Jesus, and the idea that he is sovereign over all things from beginning to end.
“Who has performed this and carried it out, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD–the first and the last–I am He,” Isaiah 41:4.
This verse is referring to God himself, as well as Christ, as part of the Trinity. I love the number of the verse–41:4. Titanic hit the iceberg on 4-14 (April 14) in 1912 and you can see the number displayed forwards and backwards in the verse. This reminds us that God is in charge of everything, even a gigantic “unsinkable” ship’s fate.
Revelation 21:6 says, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life.”
Titanic’s number (401) is a reminder that the Alpha and Omega (the Aleph and the Tav) are in control. The SS One World Government is sailing on an ocean of false hope. They sail in direct defiance to the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. The real 401 is Christ and he’s the Living Water you want to sail on.
If you take Titanic’s number and reverse it you get 104. Looking at Psalm 104 we see that God is the real Titanic! He is the real splendor! He is the unsinkable one.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed forever? Thou coverest it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth,” Psalm 104:1-9.
Titanic was first launched on May 31, 1911. Do you see the 911 in that date? Nonetheless, we do not fear the Titanic that has set sail because we have Jesus as our 911.
The world who doesn’t know Christ will face the Titanic–it will face the seven-year Tribulation.
We have a choice. We have Jesus! We can take refuge under his wings. We do not know when the Rapture will occur, but like the cat and crewman of Titanic, we have a rescue waiting. We are not destined to be on that doomed ship. The Holy Spirit invites us to jump ship and go to Jesus. He is not on the Titanic. He has much higher places for us to go. The Titanic went down, but one day we will go up!
Let the Holy Spirit comfort you in these times of darkness. Titanic sank on a moonless night. This meant the sky was pitch black. Because of that darkness, the brightness of the stars stood out in sharp contrast. Survivors said they had never seen so many stars in their life! We are those stars, led by the light of Christ. We will find our way through the darkness because the Light of the World is our beacon of hope. Hallelujah!!!
Interesting Fact:
At the beginning of this blogpost, you learned about the rescue ship called The RMS Carpathia. It arrived after the Titanic sank and 706 people were rescued and brought aboard the ship. In Tim La Haye’s Left Behind series, the Antichrist is called Nicolae Carpathia. This evil character portrays himself as the savior of the world (savior of the “Titanic”) but he is actually leading people to destruction. He will step on the global scene just as the world is sinking, offering a rescue to those who believe his lies. The “ship” that Nicolae Carpathia (the Antichrist) provides will deceive anyone who is looking for man-made salvation.
Like Titanicat, get off the doomed ship before it’s too late. Instead, get into the lifeboat with Jesus.
